Argoslabs

Argoslabs is a spanish software company I'm doing some work for. This animation was made as a "intro sequence" for the games developed. It was done in 4 separate sequences and then composed in Blender's sequence editor . Final render was done using Blender 2.31 native raytracer.

The main cube sequence was made using dupliverted particles . Animation was originally made with the logo splitting up in cubes, and inverted using a negative Time curve .
There are near 44.000 particles, arranged in two separate systems. Particle generators are grids edited to simulate the letters of the logo. Grids vertices were Z ordered. .

A complete curve made logo is showing up "hiding" the cube made logo. To make this effect a material alpha channel animation was needed. The particle's life was synchronized so they have died once hidden by the curve-made logo thus reducing render time dramticallyrender

I extensively used Glow plugin in the sequence editor. To avoid reflections problems between the curve-made logo and the cuibes systems, I had to render in two separate passes and composed everything using the Alpha Matte and WipeOut plugins.

To get the ray effect right, I used a second scene for the halos with Motion Blur activated. Particle flow was guided using lattices. Particle generators are simple rotating planes

In the particles scene, all other objects are not rendered but used as alpha masks for composition. .
